Clinical Child Psychology
Clinical child psychology integrates basic tenets of psychology, developmental psychopathology, and principles of child and family development. Clinical child psychologists provide psychological services to infants, toddlers, children, and adolescents. The research and services in clinical Child Psychology are focused on:
- Understanding
- Preventing
- Diagnosing
- Treating
Psychological, cognitive, emotional, developmental, behavioral and family problems of children. To understand the basic psychological needs of children and the social contexts, which influences child development and adjustment.
Populations:
- Infants, children, adolescents and their families displaying a wide range of psychological, behavioral, developmental, health-related, academic and family difficulties.
Clinical child psychology research and services are provided to infants, children and adolescents for:
- Severe developmental problems such as autism
- Mental and emotional disorders such as attention deficit/hyperactivity
- Social problems such as parental divorce
- Developmental milestone concerns such as toilet training, tantrums and sleeping difficulties
- Psychological aspects of physical illness
Kids in Action of Long Island, Inc offers psychological evaluations and treatment services to infants and children 0-21 years old. We are authorized by the NYS Department of Health to provide realted services (including core and supplemental evaluations, sensory-motor and education groups and service coordination) for the Early Intervention and Preschool Program of Suffolk County.
Authorized Early Intervention, Pre-School CPSE and CSE services for eligible children are provided at no out of pocket cost to families. All professional staff are qualified, specially trained personnel credentialed and submitted to New York State for background checks by Kids In Action and licensed or certified by the State of New York.
